Offered for your information and enjoyment by Rich at the Trojan Horse Lodge.
This council serves Hostelling International Members, Guests and
Travelers through-out Connecticut and Vermont.
In general, most activities are open to AYH members and non - members. AYH
Memberships may be purchased at the Council or at some Hostels. An adult
membership is $25.00 for 12 months. Members may participate in all
activities, and receive a discount when staying at AYH - HI Hostels. Other
types of Memberships are available.
This AOL Hostel Newsletter is dispersing minimal information only. The
Hostel, Council, or event Leader should be contacted for detailed information
about all events listed here.

PLEASE NOTE: All bike rides require helmets. Riders should also have water,
tools, tubes, lunch and or money, and front map holder.
Hikers should have good walking boots, clothing for various weather and
temperature, water (1-liter), lunch, and first - aid.
For canoe trips bring life jacket, water, water-proof container
for spare clothes and valuables, 50 feet of line, and lunch.
When calling the trip leader ask for details of recommended gear
and supplies, directions to start, and start and end times.

NEWS
Amtrak is now offering unboxed bike rack service on the "Vermonter"
from Washington DC to St. Albans VT. Bike rack season will be between April 1
and October 31 annually. Advanced reservation and ticketing are required. The
one - way transport charge will be $5 or $10 depending on the distance
traveled. For more information call 1-800-USA RAIL or travel agent.

Hostelling U S A, the guide to HI-AYH Hostels is available free if
you can pick it up from the council or a Hostel. You can also get one for a
postage and handling fee of $3.00 from The Trojan Horse Lodge HI-G at
44 Andover St, Ludlow VT 05149. The guide describes all 130 HI-AYH Hostels in
the US. The Guide
also lists discounts for members at businesses and attractions across the
country.
The overnight fees quoted here are for HI-AYH members. Fees are subject to
change. Non- members can stay at most HI-AYH Hostels with a $3 introductory
membership. HI-AYH Hostels expect the guest to bring their own sheets or
sheet -sack, or they may be rented at the hostel. Memberships are available
at most hostels. An adult membership is $25 for 12 months. Other types of
Memberships are available. For more information or membership, call a Council
